Guilty Pleasures

We all have them, even if we don't want to admit it - those shows, movies, music or books that we just love, even though we're kind of embarrassed that we like them.  I was thinking about having a lighter and fluffier post today, so here are some of my guilty pleasures:

The Glee Soundtrack(s).  All of them.  I've kind of lost interest in the show, but I'm still really entertained by the music.  It sounds just as cheesy and glorious as it is the first time you heard it during the show.  The special episodes and guest stars have, in some ways, ruined the show for me, but I will still continue to sing loudly to the soundtracks in the privacy of my own car.

Anything on the SyFy channel.  This weekend there was an entire day of  "disaster movies."  Category Four, Category Five, Category Six...ahh, they are blissfully ridiculous and fun to watch.  I'm not going to lie, I would probably watch them all week and get nothing else done if I had nothing but time to waste.  They make me laugh and they are some of the most underrated actors I've ever seen.  Or not.

The Twilight Books.  And Movies.  I know they are horrible.  They are like a train wreck to me, though.  You can't look away, no matter how much you want to.  I've read the books.  I've seen the movies.  In the theatres.  With other friends who understand how ridiculous the whole thing is.  But, if you're honest, you've probably read the (poorly written) books or seen at least one of the (cg-lacking) movies.  Haven't you?

Any movie that contains the following:  dancing or singing or both together.  I've seen Step Up, and Drumline.  And enjoyed both.  It started with Dirty Dancing and the movies have just evolved from there.  If there is a movie out there with dancing in it, I will see it.  At least once. (Anyone want to see Black Swan with me?!?!)

The Disney Channel.  I've seen more episodes of Hannah Montana, The Suite Life and Wizards of Waverly Place than any self-respecting 31 year old with no children should ever see.  And, sadly, I've seen some episodes of these shows twice.

These are just a very small few of my guilty pleasures.  What are some of yours?

  1. I think we all have some guilty pleasures. Harry Potter for me and Nora Roberts are two of mine. Love them both. Disney is a must with a five year old. What can I say...enjoy the guilty pleasure we do not have to be adults all of the time.

  2. I too am guilty of the Twilight nonsense. I would love to see Black Swan with you. I will also confess I am happy to sit down and watch any Barbie movie with my daughter, repeatedly (especially the musical ones). When my bf came over with her kids for a portrait shoot, her daughter brought over the then new "Barbie in a Mermaid Tale" to watch with Ariana. I had a really hard time focusing b/c I hadn't seen it yet. My bf had to pull me away to take her son's picture! :-)

We should really get together one of these days. It's been YEARS, literally, years! That's pathetic!

  3. I watched the new Twilight with my little sister (and Mom) over Christmas break but fell asleep late into it. As I finished it the next day my mom came in and rewatched a particulary cheesy portion of it. She just shook her head and said wow, that didn't sound quite so ridiculous when I watched it late last night. :) Who knew Twilight lost some appeal in the light of day?!
