The Back Cover of your Life Story

It started out simply enough. On his blog, Jon Acuff posted this challenge: what would the "blurb" on the back cover of your life story look like? For many authors, that's the only chance people have to learn about them, who they are, why they write, what they love...and it has to be short, sweet and to the point.

I thought, "Sure, easy, no problem! I can write this. I mean, it's like 75 words. How hard can it be??" Well, almost a month later I am still struggling with the assignment. It's a little bit like writing your own obituary, only not as morbid and depressing. It's a six-word story with a few more adjectives.

It's a challenge.

So, after dozens and dozens of drafts, here is what I've come up with:

Emily Bedwell always chooses to believe in the impossible. Whether it is coming up with new stories or new ways of doing 'the same old thing,' she believes that the only time you are allowed to stop learning and growing is by dying. Emily is passionate about creating, dreaming, and believing that the things you love are worth fighting for. A little like Lewis Carroll's White Queen, she's been known to believe six impossible things before breakfast.
