Top Ten Tuesday - Books for Fall

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish.

This week's list is all about what's coming up this fall that we're dying to read. Here is just a bit of my fall 2012 TBR (to be read) list!:

Reached by Ally Condie

(book three of the Matched series)

Not only is the cover beautiful, but I just love this whole series. I'm excited to read it, but sad because it will mean that the journey is over, and I'm kind of addicted to Cassia and the boys, and I can't decide who I love more...Ky or Xander...decisions, decisions...there is a lot to wrap up in this story, that's for sure. (Release date: November 13)

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

Honestly, I'm not sure Maggie Stiefvater can do any wrong in my book. I loved the Mercy Falls series, and Scorpio Races was an unexpected treat for me. I'm sure this will be dark, mysterious, and hopeful as is Ms. Stiefvater's style. (Release date: September 18)

Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor

Daughter of Smoke and Bone was a book I didn't think I would like. I thought it would be too different, too dark, too out there for me. It was a little strange (okay, a lot strange) and confusing at points, but I ended it almost unable to wait for the sequel to come out. I've thought of it often and it comes down to simply amazing, unique voice and storytelling. Wow. I can't imagine this one won't be even better! (Release date: November 6)

Son by Lois Lowry

If you've followed by blog for more than a couple days, I've probably mentioned The Giver. It's one of my favorite books, and Gathering Blue and Messenger were equally good. This is the last book (I think) of the series. And I cannot wait. It will be one of the first books I buy this fall, in hardback, to complete my collection. (Release date: October 2)

Casual Vacancy by JK Rowling

Will it be any good? I have no idea. But I loved the story telling in Harry Potter so I will at least give it a chance. (Release date: September 27)

The Time Keeper by Mitch Albom

Again, it sounds intriguing. I have a soft spot in my heart for Mitch Albom. My guess is it will be an affirming novel about the cost and value of life and living your days. In what he's written, you can tell that his time with his mentor, Morrie, deeply affected him and everything he's done since Morrie died. (Release date: September 4)

The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

I feel like everyone has read this one but me. I'm kind of giving into peer pressure, but I'm sure I'll enjoy it. I've heard nothing but great things about it, and I'm sure the movie will wind up on my list of things to see, so I definitely want to read it before that happens!

Inheritance by Christopher Paolini

Honestly, I'm about halfway through this one. I had to take it back to the library, though, and I've been waiting for my brother's copy to finish it off. It's long and I feel like it's lost a little of the magic of the first three books of the series. But, I still want to FINISH it. So, we'll see.  Hopefully soon.

Finale by Becca Fitzpatrick

I've gone back and forth throughout this series. Do I love it? Do I hate it? Do I really care anymore? But, in the end, I do want to know how it ends; I want to know if their love can win and if the world is doomed. And I LOVE the covers, so I just want to stare at it for awhile... (Release date: October 23)

My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century by Rachel Harris

I follow Rachel Harris on twitter and have loved her tweets. Plus, this sounds like a fantastic book right up my alley. I love books that are fun, playful and sweet. I love books that make my favorite worlds collide. And I love a good love story. This one just released and I can't wait to get my hands on a copy of it.

So, what books are you looking forward to reading this fall?

  2. Well you know I came here just to make sure that Son was on the list. (As if there were any question.) And I'm glad you wrote what you did about the Hush, Hush series. I read the first but didn't love it, and I haven't picked up any of the others. I worried I was alone in that and that I was missing something. Good to see you went back and forth on it as well. (Also: cover art- definitely well done!) PS- removed the first comment due to a grammatical error. Shocker.

  3. I really wanted to love the Hush, Hush books. And they're okay. They're just not as good as I hoped. I didn't care for the second one, but enjoyed the third a lot more. And I want to hear the end of the story.

Of course SON was on the list :) I actually wanted it at the top, but blogger HTML was not in the mood to cooperate yesterday when I put this all together. You need to do a list. I'm dying to see what is on yours!
