Guilty TV Pleasures

So, time for a random, yet honest, post.

I love a lot of strange TV. there I said it. Here are some of my current favorites:

Ace of Cakes:

I love this show. I watch it every single time it is on. there is something funny and irreverent about Duff and his team. they are very .... strange ... normal ... funny ... and they make some of the most amazing cakes I have ever seen. The artistry that goes into those cakes amazes me. What it comes down to is a show about a group of friends doing what they love and getting to hang out together. I love it!

Ice Road Truckers:

I just found this show like two weekends ago, but wow. If you can stand the language (which is all bleeped out, but you CAN read lips, I'm sure) then you'll probably enjoy it. A bunch of people driving over a few inches of frozen tundra for a lot of money...and hoping they don't fall in. it's crazy and something I didn't know even existed!

The Suite Life of Zack & Cody:

I love the disney channel. I love most of the shows, but this is my newest favorite. Well, this and Hannah Montana. maybe I'm still a kid at heart?

Long Time No Blog

I know I have been MIA from blogland for awhile now. Life has been moving forward full steam ahead and a pace, an extremely hectic pace, that I did not anticipate ever happening all at once. And, part of the reason I haven't been available in blogland is because so much of what was happening was 'unofficial' so i was hesitant to say too much. Some of it is more official now, so I think I can say something...

Long story short, I just got a pretty big promotion at work. I am now the Business Manager for the church. It's a pretty big jump for me, but I am VERY excited about the future and the new challenge...and VERY scared because it's a lot of responsibility. So, I've been trying to train before the old Business Manager left and then have spent this week trying to keep my head above water, painting my office, doing some work, painting my office, moving into the new space, painting my office...you get the picture. The walls aren't perfect, but I'm almost out of paint and I wanted to just get moved and be done already, so it's done. Without the overhead lights, you can't really tell, though, so I'm happy enough with it.

This week was a strange week, so I know next week will be a lot more difficult. There will be a lot more work and a lot more responsibility, and a lot more to learn. I have a pretty long list of things I need to ask the old guy about - how to decipher his code being one of those things! Hopefully we'll get to touch base next week.

In our personal world, things are still going crazy. My wonderful husband has been doing some more freelance video work. I am so proud of what he does and how he does it. It's amazing to see his dedication and the way he really works to improve his craft. I am a proud wife.

We are looking at making a pretty big change in our little world in the next few weeks. I am very excited about it, but won't post a lot here, because it's not official yet. most people who read this know what we're in the middle of doing (hint: it's a pretty big purchase) but if you don't and want to know before it's official, drop me an email!

And finally, once again I am asking for prayers for my mom. She is having a hysterectomy first thing Tuesday morning. Pray for her recovery and also that the abnormalities they are concerned about turn out to be nothing. I will keep you all posted!

so, my life in a nutshell - crazy - wonderful - amazing - blessed - but still crazy!

A Simple Life

Remember when you were a kid and lived a simple, easy life...

...when the biggest decision you had to make was whether you wanted pbj or cheese for lunch?
...when the heat didn't bother you because you could play outside all day?
...when you didn't care if you showered or not, because you had a date with the sandbox?
...when summer was full of lazy days reading on the swing?
...when you didn't need and excuse to eat ice cream?
...or go to the pool?

Remember when school days ended at 3pm and all you had to do when you went home was some homework (maybe) and then hang out with your mom, read a book, or play a game?

Remember when doing puzzles and drinking hot chocolate with mini marshmallows was the best way to pass a snowstorm?

Remember when you were oblivious to stress? to change? to jobs? to reality?

I want to go back!

The Best Reason to Want to Be Famous...

...to kick butt on Celebrity Jeopardy. It has become the Saturday Night Live parody of itself. I swear, if you ever need to feel like the smartest person in the world, just watch an episode of Celebrity Jeopardy and answer all the questions in 1/2 the time it takes the stars. You'll never feel so smart!

(and yes, this is my favorite week of Jeopardy. When they do the genius kids I feel like a dunce!)

Enter Title

I don't have the creative juices flowing enough today to actually come up with a witty title that will encompass everything this post could be about, so we'll just leave it at "enter title."

The last few days have been interesting, to say the least. I have spent most of the week feeling tired and under the weather as I had to deal with some 'issues.' (which shall not be written about here - if you want to know, email and ask!) That led to a very hard week of dieting, over 1/2 of it being on a liquid diet and 1/2 of it wanting to eat any and everything I could get my hands on. So, we'll see what it all evens out to tomorrow...

Work is both crazy and confusing right now. Between people leaving, transitions, and new job responsibilities, there is so much going on...and I don't know what to talk about first.

Life is just...wow.

My friends jason and amy had their second son on Monday. he is adorable, and his parents and big brother are all so excited to finally meet him (along with everyone who knows and loves the family). it's such a joy to share in even a small part of someone's happiness like that. Welcome to the world, baby Austin. Know you are loved and cherished by so many already!
